FAQ’s
We currently offer six oils, all extracted through the traditional Gaanuga method:
- Black Sesame Oil — rich, nutty, deeply nourishing
- White Sesame Oil — lighter in flavour, high in antioxidants
- Groundnut (Peanut) Oil — robust flavour, rich in natural fats
- Coconut (Copra) Oil — traditional, aromatic, deeply versatile
- Sunflower Oil — light, clean, everyday cooking
- Safflower Oil — high in unsaturated fats, mild flavour
Every oil is single-origin, sourced from Mothadaka, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.
Yes — absolutely. Every bottle contains one ingredient: the oil itself. No chemicals, no preservatives, no refining agents, no artificial additives of any kind. What you see on the ingredient list is all that is in the bottle.
"Our oils are not a processed product. They are an extracted one. The seed goes in. The oil comes out. Nothing is added. Nothing is taken away."
Our oils have a shelf life of 12 months from the date of manufacture, clearly printed on every bottle. Because our oils are unrefined and free of preservatives, they retain their natural characteristics — including some sediment and variation in colour and consistency, which is completely normal and a sign of authenticity.
Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Do not refrigerate. Some oils — particularly coconut oil — may solidify or become cloudy at cooler temperatures. This is completely natural and does not affect quality. Simply place the bottle in warm water for a few minutes and it will return to its liquid state.
The Gaanuga is an ancient stone and wood press — one of the oldest oil extraction methods in South India. A bull walks in slow, steady circles, turning a wooden beam attached to a central stone pestle. The pestle rotates inside a stone mortar, gradually crushing the seeds. The oil flows out naturally, through gravity alone.
- Zero friction heat generated
- No metal contact at any stage
- No chemicals or solvents used
- Small batches only — cannot be rushed or industrialised
The result is an oil that is as close to its natural state as it is possible to get.
This is one of the most important distinctions we want every customer to understand. There are actually three different things people call "Gaanuga" or "cold pressed" — and they are not the same.
1. Traditional Bull Driven Gaanuga — what FELDnSTEIN uses
- A real bull walks in slow circles, turning a stone and wood press
- Zero electricity, zero motor, zero friction heat
- No metal contact at any stage — only stone and wood
- Produces just 5-6 litres per day — cannot be scaled or rushed
- The rarest and most authentic form of oil extraction
2. Motor Driven "Gaanuga" Machine — what local oil shops use
- An electric motor mimics the rotational motion of the traditional Gaanuga
- Often called "Gaanuga oil" at local shops where you bring your own seeds
- Faster than a bull — generates some friction heat from the motor
- Better than industrial cold press, but not the same as true bull pressed
- Metal components involved depending on the machine
Because supermarket oils have been refined. Refining strips the oil of its natural colour, aroma, and flavour — producing a uniform, neutral product that travels well and lasts longer on shelves. Our oils are unrefined. The aroma, colour, and flavour you experience are the oil's natural characteristics, fully intact. If our groundnut oil smells like groundnuts and our sesame oil tastes deeply of sesame — that is exactly how it should be.
None. The Gaanuga method generates zero heat at any stage of extraction. The slow bull rotation creates no friction. No external heat is applied before, during, or after pressing. This is why our oils retain their living nutrients, natural enzymes, and authentic aroma — all of which are destroyed when heat is introduced.
Yes. FELDnSTEIN is FSSAI licensed under License No. 10126007000093, issued to Budhakausik Pvt. Ltd., Mothadaka, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Every bottle carries the FSSAI mark and license number, clearly printed on the label.
Yes. Every batch is tested at NABL accredited laboratories for purity, adulteration, pesticide residue, heavy metals, and nutritional composition. Our QR code on every bottle links directly to the lab report for that specific batch — so you can verify exactly what you are consuming, down to the pressing.
One of our co-founders, Dr. Venkat Krishna Manchikalapudi, is a practicing pediatrician in South India. His role is not ceremonial. He applies a clinical standard of care to every product decision we make. He asks one question about every batch: would he give this to the children he treats? That standard drives our sourcing decisions, our extraction process, and our quality controls.
"If it is not good enough for the children in my clinic, it does not leave the farm." — Dr. Venkat Krishna Manchikalapudi
Yes — our oils are among the cleanest available. With zero additives, zero chemicals, zero refining, and full lab traceability, they are suitable for the whole family. However, as with any dietary change, if your child has specific allergies or health conditions, please consult your paediatrician. Please also check our allergen declaration on the label — some oils are produced in a facility that processes multiple oilseeds.

- Quality concern: If you believe the oil does not meet our stated standards, contact us within 7 days. We will investigate using the batch QR code and arrange a replacement or refund.
